Temple secures two race discrimination verdicts in employment discrimination cases, and settles major case against law firm.
In February, 2008, Temple secured a difficult jury verdict on Title VII grounds in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia against the District of Columbia government's Metropolitan Police Department in Squires v. D.C. Squires, a veteran African-American police officer, successfully challenged a racially hostile workplace and the racial employment practices of Captain Atcheson. A claim challenging these practices relative to six other police officers on Section 1981 grounds is on appeal in the D.C. Circuit.
In June, 2007, Temple secured a significant jury verdict in Porter v.Washington Suburban Sanitation Commission, a promotion employment discrimination case filed on Title VII and Section 1981 grounds, after a reversal by the 4th Circuit Court of Appeal of an earlier dismissal by the
trial court.
In 2008, Temple settled a major claim on behalf of Attorney and former firm
law partner, Pauline Schneider, against mega law firm Hunton and Williams.
The case was filed on contract and age discrimination grounds.
