Here's an interesting article about the legal arguments made by a judge that the use of confinement in a box with insects, waterboarding, sleep deprivation, and walling (the practice of pounding someone's head against a wall with a towel wrapped around his neck to prevent whiplash) do not constitute torture and is permissible under U.S. law.
